The publishing activities of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) are based on the following principles:

1. UUM will carry out academic publishing in the form of books, monographs, journals, etc. for the use of students and academics in particular and the public in   general.
2. A more major aim of UUM’s publishing effort is not to seek profit, but to encourage academic writing as well as to highlight and disseminate knowledge.
3. UUM academic publications are published in Malay and English.
4. Academic publications initiated in UUM should be channeled through the UUM Press.
