UUM ONLINE: Ipoh - Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) added another feather to its cap when a book published by UUM Press entitled ‘Water for All’ was successfully launched in conjunction with the celebration of World Water Day on 11 March. The launch of the book was officiated by the Right Honourable Prime Minister, Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim at the Indera Mulia Stadium, Perak.
The book, which has a total of 21 chapters, was co-edited by Prof. Dr Nabsiah Abdul Wahid, a lecturer at the Centre for Postgraduate Studies, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Dr Chong Khai Lin, the Director of the UUM Disaster Management Institute, and Assoc. Prof. Dr Mohd Remy Rozainy Mohd Arif Zainol, a senior lecturer at USM.
Dr. Chong Khai Lin, who is also a Senior Lecturer at the School of Technology Management and Logistics (STML), said that the book, ‘Water for All’ is a very important text in the field of water management and engineering in Malaysia.
According to him, the book that was written by all of the late Professor Dr. Ismail Abustan's acquaintances, friends, colleagues, and students required a total of six months for the editing process before it was successfully published by UUM Press.
"The editing process for this book took a total of six months, and it was finally published. My heartfelt appreciation and best wishes go out to everyone at UUM Press and STML who helped publish this book," he said.
He added that the work compiles the findings of Prof. Dr. Ismail Abustan's research with external experts on solid waste management techniques and community projects with indigenous people.
Also present at the World Water Day Celebration Ceremony were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International) who is performing the duties of UUM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Shahimi Mohtar, the Director of UUM Press, Assoc. Prof. Dr Hamidi Ismail, and senior officials from UUM Press and STML.
