UUM ONLINE: 5 July 2015, Tokyo, Japan – The book 'Politics of Bangsa Malaysia' written by Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dato' Wira Dr. Mohamed Mustafa Ishak which had been translated into the Japanese language gained encouraging support from amongst the local universities and the general public in the Land of the Rising Sun as soon as it was launched.
The works of the Vice- Chancellor which is jointly published by the Malaysia Institute of Translation and Books (MITB) , UUM Press as well as the Japan-Malaysia Association was launched by the Malaysian Ambassador to Japan, TYT Dato' Ahmad Izlan Idris on 3 July at the Tokyo International Book Fair (TBIF) 2015 which ran from 1 to 4 July.
The book launching ceremony was attended by fellow book translator Shunsuke Otano, Director of the Japan-Malaysia Association, Takashi Moribayashi and Executive Director of Japan-Malaysia Association, Arai Takuji. Also present were the Head of the Translation and Training MITB, Mdm. Siti Rafiah Sulaiman and Director of UUM Press, Dr.Ram Al-Jafri Saad.
TBIF is the biggest publishing event in Japan with participation from various book publishers from around the world. The books on display were books which had been translated into Japanese and an estimated 1,000 exhibitors took part in the four-day book festival. In addition to books, animation and technological products as well as products in the field of ICT were also showcased.
According to Dato' Ahmad Izlan Idris, the Vice-Chancellor's book is a fascinating piece of reading material which also serves as a scientific reference in the field of political science, especially in Malaysia. Meanwhile, in the evening, a recension session was held at the Kinokuniya Bookstore in Shinjuku, Tokyo, which was also attended by Director of Import and Distribution, Kinokuniya Ltd., Hiroshi Sogo.
UUM Vice-Chancellor received a special invitation which was extended by Kinokuniya Ltd. to deliver a brief presentation about his book which incidentally was named the 'best seller' in Kinokuniya KLCC back in 2014. Kinokuniya is the leading and largest bookstore chain in Japan with many branches set up throughout the world. Incidentally, it is the sole distributor of the said book in Japan.
